Generation Y members are in a renassaince of a technological boom, with respect to online networking. Years ago if friends were talking about an old movie and wanted to know a certain actors name and more about them, they had to use a lot of memory introspection and spent time as a result. That is only if they were lucky enough to stay focused on remembering who it was they were thinking about. Often times those questions went unanswered and into the abyss of unanswered questions that are now long forgotten. This carries into virtually every field including music, knowledge about a particular classroom subject, hobbies, etc. Now if we want to remember an actors name its as simple as a few swipes and taps on a smartphone. For the musicians out there, we can teach ourselves how to play instruments by going on youtube and finding the vast array of tutorials on how to play certain songs and theory on the actual instrument. The possibilities are limitless, and the great questions we come up with as human beings can now be answered faster and with a higher probablity of answering these questions through use of the internet. The internet has changed the world and humans alike. In my classroom, I would definitely utilize youtube videos that either I will make myself or links to videos of someone teaching similar lessons to the ones I do in class. Khanacademy.org is a great resource that contains video tutorials on multiple subjects. These videos would also be beneficial to the parents of the students so they can see what it is we are doing in the classroom.
